But there’s one more way to do that. It will crack SP2 download, install + this win update:
1) Just open Run in Start menu
2) type “regedit”
3) Open: HKEYLOCALMACHINE
SOFTWARE
MICROSOFT
WINDOWS NT
WPAEVENTS
4) Then in WPAEvents you should find the “OOBETimer”, open it
5) Delete ALL or at least ONE number/character inside
6) Restart your comp
7) Open Run and type: “%systemroot%/system32/msoobe/oobe.exe /a”
if this can’t help you (I can’t remeber what code works, this or this second following), try
“%systemroot%/system32/oobe/msoobe.exe /a”

It worked, but microsoft has made a new protection. The above solution does not work anymore :(
Any suggestions on what to do now?

it’s not working for windows in french, when I paste javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck=’all’)it doesn’t works and there is no manage add ons with xp with no sp2

windows have just fixed the
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck=’all’)
hack , anyway the still trying the legitcheckcontrol.dll way . hopefully it works =X

Use a third party software to disable the WGA ActiveX control. Now you can’t do it from IE since only the WGA one is greyed out but if you any third party tool you can easily do it. Or if can edit the registy directly and disable it

the “manage add-ons” options only appears in IE after you’ve already installed SP2. and the other two workarounds – the script for windows download and the one for windows update – don’t seem to work anymore, at least not without SP2 already installed. so…

ok i’m having the same problem as William. i did this as suggested: IE – Tools – Internet Options – Programs – …and there is NO “Manage Add-ons” button. I have Windows XP Pro. Can’t disable somethin that’s not there. If anyone knows another please help. Thanks!
