windows update hack
don’t wanna forget this: microsoft windows “genuine advantage” cracked in 24 hours…
http://www.boingboing.net/2005/07/28/microsoft_genuine_ad.html
cracked in 24h…
AV sez, “This week, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called ‘Genuine Advantage.’ It was cracked within 24 hours.”
Before pressing ‘Custom’ or ‘Express’ buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck=’all’)
It turns off the trigger for the key check.

John,
just change apostrophes to normal ascii chars not windows bullshit as above. Paste the text, delete windows apostrophes, type in them again. And it works.
on September 11th, 2005 at 2:15 pm
Yes It works now, for some reason it just worked. Thank you very much, nice to get back at Microsoft again! They have enough money!

No no, just delete every text in the address bar and just paste:

Worked Yesterday on main PC just sorted my lads pc out and keeps going to
“Genuine Windows Validation
To get updates, you must first validate your Windows software. Validation assures that you are using an authentic and fully licensed copy of Windows. ”
once u press Express or custom
on September 25th, 2005 at 10:41 am
sussed it go to Internet Explorer – Tools – Programs – Manage Addons
Disable – Windows Genuine Advantage
Think it adds this plugin when u install the Update software needed to update.
close all instances of IE then re run windows update adding javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck=’all’) as b4 should now work

on December 20th, 2005 at 12:53 am
It’s worked for me as 20 Dec 2005.
on December 22nd, 2005 at 1:03 pm
the “manage add-ons” options only appears in IE after you’ve already installed SP2. and the other two workarounds – the script for windows download and the one for windows update – don’t seem to work anymore, at least not without SP2 already installed. so…
on March 16th, 2006 at 11:34 am
I just got it to work on a machine without sp2….
#2006-03-16# Just though you might wanted to know…
on March 26th, 2006 at 10:05 am
They’ve updated again, because I can no longer disable the Add-on in IE.
on April 25th, 2006 at 5:27 am
Use a third party software to disable the WGA ActiveX control. Now you can’t do it from IE since only the WGA one is greyed out but if you any third party tool you can easily do it. Or if can edit the registy directly and disable it

on June 25th, 2006 at 1:15 pm
It worked, but microsoft has made a new protection. The above solution does not work anymore :(
Any suggestions on what to do now?
on November 21st, 2007 at 4:59 am
But there’s one more way to do that. It will crack SP2 download, install + this win update:
1) Just open Run in Start menu
2) type “regedit”
3) Open: HKEYLOCALMACHINE
SOFTWARE
MICROSOFT
WINDOWS NT
WPAEVENTS
4) Then in WPAEvents you should find the “OOBETimer”, open it
5) Delete ALL or at least ONE number/character inside
6) Restart your comp
7) Open Run and type: “%systemroot%/system32/msoobe/oobe.exe /a”
if this can’t help you (I can’t remeber what code works, this or this second following), try
“%systemroot%/system32/oobe/msoobe.exe /a”
P. S.: Im a 14 years old noob from Czech Republic and I found this alone..
